Founded in 2015, we have established a curriculum that teaches ages 4-18 how to embrace a passion for the hospitality industry through food.

At JCOA our mission is to broaden our student’s food awareness by offering global culinary classes & community food sustainability experiences both in community and classroom.

5 Programs ~ One Great School

We offer 5 Programs, through One Great School to provide balance to our students. We utilize S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, English, Culinary Arts and Math) lessons with our students to stimulate their brains and make their learning experience fun! Our targeted culinary programs teach our students how to Cook, Grow, Give Back & Be Empowered. 

We offer S.T.E.A.M Educational Classes (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) combined with culinary classes for ages 4-18. Our S.T.E.A.M-based approach allows us to include skill-building activities that focus on developing specific talents in each student. Our programs are designed to help students with behavioral or emotional challenges develop coping skills, social skills, and emotional regulation through collaborative culinary classes where teams work together to create finished products.

Since our inception we have helped hundreds of kids and teens learn the importance of food sustainability. We strive to take our mission global through the establishment of JCOA Francises.

What is S.T.E.A.M.?

S.T.E.A.M. learning fosters innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity through a culinary lens. It equips students with the necessary skills to effectively navigate and understand the world around them, connecting diverse skills and concepts for a holistic educational experience.

Through these S.T.E.A.M. activities, students build a deeper understanding and appreciation for the interconnectedness of different academic disciplines and culinary arts, fostering a well-rounded and enriched educational experience.

Students explore the chemistry of food and nutrition, learning how different ingredients interact to create unique flavors and textures.

Hands-on culinary technology classes are taught, emphasizing the skills needed for both cooking and sustainable food production.

Through reading and writing about culinary traditions, students enhance their communication skills and deepen their appreciation of cultural diversity.

Students express their creativity by designing visually appealing dishes and understanding the artistry involved in plating and presentation.

Precision and accuracy are key as students use math skills to measure ingredients and scale recipes effectively.
